A Treatment Plan For You

Outpatient Therapy for Adults, Teens, and Children

We offer compassionate outpatient therapy for individuals of all ages, available both in-person and via telehealth. Our flexible services help clients manage trauma, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, and life transitions while maintaining their daily routines.

Our experienced therapists use evidence-based approaches like Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to create personalized treatment plans. We provide a safe, supportive environment for clients to develop healthy coping strategies, build resilience, and foster emotional growth.

We’re committed to helping every client find hope, healing, and a path forward.

What to Expect

During your intake session, a therapist will gather information about you to ensure the treatment approach aligns with your needs. You can expect to discuss your background and any previous therapies or coping mechanisms you've tried. The session is a collaborative experience, where you'll have the opportunity to express your goals for therapy and ask questions. By the end, you’ll have a clear understanding of the next steps in your healing journey, whether that’s continuing with us or receiving a thoughtful referral to another provider better suited to your needs.

Intake Appointment - 50mins

Therapy sessions last 50 minutes and are typically scheduled weekly, twice weekly, or bi-weekly based on your needs.

Initial sessions will focus on goal setting, building trust, establishing safety, and understanding the therapy process.

The next stage will involve education about how trauma affects your brain, body, and thoughts/feelings/behaviors, as well as developing coping skills.

Once you're equipped with this knowledge and these skills, you can begin processing trauma. The approach will vary depending on the therapy chosen.

Throughout the process, therapy will align with your values and goals. Your therapist will track your progress by recording symptoms, monitoring goal completion, and celebrating your reclaiming of life and self that trauma has impacted.

Individual Therapy - 3 to 12 months

At UTS, our goal is for you to successfully graduate from our individual therapy program, having met your treatment objectives and experienced significant symptom reduction. We recognize that life is full of challenges and fluctuations, which is why your therapist may suggest aftercare. This allows you to meet at a gradually reduced frequency, helping you maintain your progress and continue building resilience as you navigate future ups and downs.

Aftercare - 6 months (optional)

Evidence Based Trauma Therapy

The gold star in our Utah Trauma Specialists logo represents our commitment to therapies proven to most effectively treat trauma. The therapies we currently offer:

  • Prolonged Exposure (PE) Therapy: A structured therapy that helps individuals gradually confront trauma-related memories, feelings, and situations they’ve been avoiding. Over time, this reduces the emotional impact of the trauma and helps regain control of life.

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy: A trauma-focused therapy that uses guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation while recalling traumatic memories. This process helps reprocess and resolve the trauma, reducing its emotional intensity.

  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT): A therapy designed to help process trauma by identifying and challenging harmful thoughts and beliefs. It combines trauma processing with emotional regulation skills to promote healing.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): A therapy that combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness strategies. It helps trauma survivors manage intense emotions, build coping skills, and develop healthier relationships.

Your UTS therapist will assist you in choosing one or multiple therapies to best address your symptoms and get you back to the life you want.
